Julie's birthday (and mine) means that the summer is almost over.   Halloween came up quickly -- you can see the kids in their Halloween (2003) costumes.  And, before we could hardly get our bearings, there was Thanksgiving.   The outdoor pic shows J&K with a bunch of their Scott family cousins at Thanksgiving.  The kids were pretty squirrely -- so I probably should have taken more than 2 shots!  Christmas will be here before we know it.  Between my deadlines and the home construction, time sure does fly! My brothers just sent me this great picture of them when bro Mark was visiting Seattle.  For folks who haven't met my brothers, that's Mike on the left, Mark in the middle, and Sean on the right.  Note the traditional Sullivan bunny ears!  Hmm -- now that I'm looking, that shadow behind Mike looks suspicious.  Could it be that this was taken in front of a backdrop rather than the real skyline?!  Finaly, we have our official family Holiday portrait.   Hope you all had a great 2003!  (And a happy 2004!)

What's summer without swimming and conventions?  Our kids did well in their swimming lessons.  I had a good time at the Chicago comicon.  The picture of me alone is by my friend, famous artist Mitch O'Connell.  The book I'm holding was written by my friend Brian Thomas (I contributed reviews).  The people in the last picture are my friends Meryl Campitti, John Bennet, (me), David Campitti, and Bob (RC) Harvey.  You may have caught Bob on NPR this fall, talking about comics!  For the first time in over 20 years, neither Kiff nor I went to GenCon!  They've moved it to Indianapolis from Milwaukee -- so it's no longer a short commute.

Kendall's class gave presentations during Family Day near the end of the 2002-3 term.  Spring melted into summer, which brought baseball.  Julie had fully recovered from her broken leg, and played softball up to her usual standards.   Kendall continued playing baseball, and was awarded two game balls this season (this is his first).  After that, came Kendall's birthday.  He got a robot construction kit, and had built all four possible models within a week or two.   (Actually, he did a new one practically every day!)  We fear that we may have a young Darth Vader in the making -- but hopefully, just Anikan Skywalker!

I got my digital camera in January of 2003, and immediately began experimenting with it.  As you can see, our children were more than willing to ham it up for the camera.  Julie still had her broken leg (from December 6, 2002) in these first pix.  She got the cast off just in time for the final game of the basketball season.  Though she couldn't run yet, she could still help in practice and shoot freethrows.  Kendall, meanwhile, was practicing his slam-dunk.
